I have gained experience in public relations in my roles at Community High School District 155 and Roseville Area Schools. Though I assisted the District 155 director of communications, my initial responsibilities only included creating positive PR through the district’s channels and local media rather than correcting misinformation or acting as the district’s spokesperson.
However, I became the interim director of communications and the district’s sole public relations staff a year and a half into my position. At the time, the district was handling a number of unfortunate events. I stepped in as a spokesperson, handled media relations, and answered Freedom of Information Act requests from the media and the public, all in addition to my original duties.
At Roseville Area Schools, my duties include media relations as well. I have formed helpful relationships with the local media outlets and continue to invite them to school and community relations events.
